Mr. and Mrs. Byrd

Stephen and I had the honor of photographing the union of Barbara and Chad earlier this month. Besides the rain keeping us indoors for most of the photos, it was a prefect day. The flowers were beautiful (thanks to Jess from Frou Frou in Alabama), the church was amazing, the bride was radiant and the groom couldn’t have been happier! Guys, thanks for letting us be a part of your special day. We have enjoyed getting to know you and wish you the best in your new life together!

The first meeting of the couple is always special and this one was no exception. Her face was full of excitement to see her groom for the first time!

The bridal party was large and rowdy! All order in the court.
The ceremony was at the beautiful Northminster Baptist Church.
The celebration continued at the very awesome Jackson Yacht Club.
The dance floor was hopping thanks to Suzy’s Sounds from Madison.
I lucked out and caught this special moment between the two newlyweds right after the ceremony.
Thank you again for allowing us the opportunity to capture this special event in your lives; we wish you two the best of luck in all of your endeavors.

Barbara

Stephen and I had the honor of photographing a wedding this past weekend for Barbara and her new husband Chad. We had such a blast. Until I can get a blog ready to post about the becoming of Mr. and Mrs. Byrd, I figured I would share a few of our favorite bridals from Barbara’s session back in May. Hope you enjoy! Be sure to check back for pics from the big day!

Finally…

This post is long overdue. We have been so busy that I haven’t gotten a chance to blog about my time with this awesome family. I was so looking forward to this session after having to reschedule so many times due to weather and other unplanned events. Finally, last Wednesday we were able to squeeze in a session before the afternoon downpour and I am so glad. We got so many great shots! I had a wonderful time hanging out with all of you and hope you enjoy your sneaks!

Mr. S- 6 Months

I got to spend some time with this handsome little guy and his parents Tuesday morning. It is always fun to see how much the little ones change between sessions. Mr. S has definitely filled out a little since I saw him at three months. I had a blast with this little man. He is always so happy! Here is a little peek at our session.

Worth 1000 Words

We have all heard the saying that a picture is worth 1000 words. Have you ever really thought about why this is true? I think it is because of the story it tells. So many times when we have family portraits taken we stress over what to wear, how our hair looks and any other thing we can possibly worry about. Somehow in all the stress and worry the fun of a family portrait session gets lost. We are all so busy with life that is hard to get the family together for photos and then we spend that rare time together fighting with each other to get the perfect photo for the fireplace. Many times I have even heard people refer to it as the “dreaded family photo session”. Maybe if we really thought about that the fact that a picture is worth 1000 words we wouldn’t stress so much. We could relax and be ourselves.

Stephen and I have some wonderful clients that we met in October of last year for a maternity session. Since that time they have become great friends and I have had the honor of photographing the precious baby girl that they waited 14yrs for several times. We had planned to do a family session in July. However, Monday I received a phone call from Robin asking if we could move the date up. Then through tears, she told me that she had just been told she had Stage II Melenoma and would have to have surgery and we wouldn’t be able to get that family photo session in for a while. After setting a time and getting off the phone I couldn’t stop thinking about everything. I kept thinking about what I could do for her to let her know I cared about her and her family. Finally it hit me that the best gift I could give was to document their memories. No white shirts and blue jeans, just the real them interacting with each other. That is what life is all about. Spending time with those you love and care about, not stressing over hair out of place or making sure everyone matches perfectly. So last night when Stephen and I met up for our session with Robin and Mark we had a great time taking some lifestyle portraits. Capturing the emotion between the three of them. I have to say it was perfect and not the least bit stressful.

I hope that everyone reading this will realize the importance of capturing your family memories. Stop worrying about all the rules like wearing matching outfits or making sure everyone is looking perfect. Give the kids a lollipop or some ice cream and just enjoy a rare afternoon of family time and realize that it is okay to hang those memories on your wall. In the end the photos in the family album that matter are those that capture an emotion and bring back memories of a good time not those that just document all of your family members at that current time. Now that I have written a novel, here is a little peek at our afternoon with this precious family.

If you just smile…

This little man has to be the happiest baby boy. He smiled almost the entire time he was here. He had us all cracking up. The only time he cried was when it was time to go! I have to admit he has been my motivation the past few days! Anytime I need to smile I thumb through his session. Here is a little peek at our time together. Go ahead and smile, you know you want to!

Mr. and Mrs. Moak

Saturday, Stephen and I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Nikki and Jared. We got off to a rainy start, but luckily the rain stopped long enough for us to head outside for a few pictures. Here are some of our favorites from the day.

LOVE the look on this little man’s face as he watches the bride getting ready.

Aren’t these two just absolutely adorable? They were so sweet to each other.

The girls.

The guys.

I love the look on Jared’s face as he waits to see his bride for the first time. He pretty much smiled the whole day.

I am so happy with this series of them seeing each other for the first time. I think these shots pretty much tell the story.

Some of the bride and groom.

Three generations.

Waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Getting ready to walk down the aisle.

The cakes. These pictures make me hungry!

The aftermath of a good old fashioned cake fight.

The reception.

You will understand the smile as soon as you see the car he is holding the key to.

No words needed.

One last picture of the bride and groom.

Guys, thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of your lives over the past several months. It was truly a pleasure getting to know you. Hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!
