I got to spend some time with this handsome little guy and his parents Tuesday morning. It is always fun to see how much the little ones change between sessions. Mr. S has definitely filled out a little since I saw him at three months. I had a blast with this little man. He is always so happy! Here is a little peek at our session.

Worth 1000 Words
We have all heard the saying that a picture is worth 1000 words. Have you ever really thought about why this is true? I think it is because of the story it tells. So many times when we have family portraits taken we stress over what to wear, how our hair looks and any other thing we can possibly worry about. Somehow in all the stress and worry the fun of a family portrait session gets lost. We are all so busy with life that is hard to get the family together for photos and then we spend that rare time together fighting with each other to get the perfect photo for the fireplace. Many times I have even heard people refer to it as the “dreaded family photo session”. Maybe if we really thought about that the fact that a picture is worth 1000 words we wouldn’t stress so much. We could relax and be ourselves.
Stephen and I have some wonderful clients that we met in October of last year for a maternity session. Since that time they have become great friends and I have had the honor of photographing the precious baby girl that they waited 14yrs for several times. We had planned to do a family session in July. However, Monday I received a phone call from Robin asking if we could move the date up. Then through tears, she told me that she had just been told she had Stage II Melenoma and would have to have surgery and we wouldn’t be able to get that family photo session in for a while. After setting a time and getting off the phone I couldn’t stop thinking about everything. I kept thinking about what I could do for her to let her know I cared about her and her family. Finally it hit me that the best gift I could give was to document their memories. No white shirts and blue jeans, just the real them interacting with each other. That is what life is all about. Spending time with those you love and care about, not stressing over hair out of place or making sure everyone matches perfectly. So last night when Stephen and I met up for our session with Robin and Mark we had a great time taking some lifestyle portraits. Capturing the emotion between the three of them. I have to say it was perfect and not the least bit stressful.
I hope that everyone reading this will realize the importance of capturing your family memories. Stop worrying about all the rules like wearing matching outfits or making sure everyone is looking perfect. Give the kids a lollipop or some ice cream and just enjoy a rare afternoon of family time and realize that it is okay to hang those memories on your wall. In the end the photos in the family album that matter are those that capture an emotion and bring back memories of a good time not those that just document all of your family members at that current time. Now that I have written a novel, here is a little peek at our afternoon with this precious family.

The other morning I had the pleasure to spend some time with one of the happiest babies to date. This was much different than my first encounter with baby G as a newborn when he was not so happy to see me. However, this time he was all smiles! We got so many great shots of him that I had a difficult time choosing which ones to put on the blog. Despite the fact that I can’t put my favorite one on here due to the dad’s disapproval, we had lots of great ones! I hope you enjoy the sneak peek.

This morning I got to spend some time with this beautiful family. They have so much joy right now as they welcome a new baby girl to their family, but also so much heartache as they prepare for Dad’s deployment for the next six months. It was such an honor to be able to spend the morning capturing some precious memories for them before he leaves. Guys, we will be praying for your family during this seperation. I hope the time goes by quickly. Thank you for letting me into your lives for the day. I hope you enjoy the sneaks.

Last week I got to spend some time with this precious baby girl and her mommy. Even though she wouldn’t smile much for me, she was one of the most content babies I have ever seen. I am absolutely loving the sweet pictures of her with her mommy! I had a great time with you both. I hope you enjoy the sneaks!

I got to spend some time with Miss “M” Wednesday afternoon. What a precious baby girl! I had so much fun with her. Her mommy brought lots of clothes and hairbows for her pictures. Being the mom of a little boy, I always enjoy getting to play dress up with the little girls that come to visit! We did have to get a little inventive with poses since Miss M isn’t a big fan of tummy time. However, I think we still got some great shots!
Thanks for spending the afternoon with me. I hope you enjoy the sneaks!
I have gotten a little behind on blogging. I spent some time with Miss L and her Mommy on Wednesday morning. It was such a nice day that we were glad to be able to go outside for our session. Even though we had a tough time getting a smile I think we got some great pictures. We were even able to get a shot of this little princess sitting up!
Thanks for spending the morning with me. I hope you enjoy your sneaks.
This afternoon I got to spend some time with sweet Miss “J” and her Mommy. We had so much fun and got some great shots in the process. However, I have to admit, one of my favorites is the one Stephen took while Miss J’s mommy and I were discussing what pose we wanted to do first!
Thanks for visiting with us this afternoon! Hope you guys enjoy your sneaks.

The “Y” Family
Stephen and I got to spend some time with this beautiful family today. I took pictures with my camera while Stephen, Miss L and her Daddy took turns with the Elmo camera. Too bad we can’t see those pictures. I’m sure there where some great ones!
How precious is Miss L’s dress in this next picture? It was made by her very talented Mommy. Check out her website: www.theeverydaybaby.com .
Guys, thanks so much for hanging out with us this morning. We really enjoyed getting to meet you. Hope you enjoy your sneaks!

3 Month-Baby “S”
This morning I got to hang out with this handsome little man and his Mommy and Daddy. I was quite relieved to find out that he has obviously forgiven me for his newborn photo session (he didn’t like me at all that day)! Today, however, he only cried when it was time to leave. Guys, thanks for enduring the trip in the rain to come hang out with me. Hope you enjoy your sneaks!
I love these next two photos. Mommy and Daddy are so in love with this little man.
Obviously, that feeling is mutual! You can’t help but to smile at this picture!
