Finally…

This post is long overdue. We have been so busy that I haven’t gotten a chance to blog about my time with this awesome family. I was so looking forward to this session after having to reschedule so many times due to weather and other unplanned events. Finally, last Wednesday we were able to squeeze in a session before the afternoon downpour and I am so glad. We got so many great shots! I had a wonderful time hanging out with all of you and hope you enjoy your sneaks!

Mr. S- 6 Months

I got to spend some time with this handsome little guy and his parents Tuesday morning. It is always fun to see how much the little ones change between sessions. Mr. S has definitely filled out a little since I saw him at three months. I had a blast with this little man. He is always so happy! Here is a little peek at our session.

Worth 1000 Words

We have all heard the saying that a picture is worth 1000 words. Have you ever really thought about why this is true? I think it is because of the story it tells. So many times when we have family portraits taken we stress over what to wear, how our hair looks and any other thing we can possibly worry about. Somehow in all the stress and worry the fun of a family portrait session gets lost. We are all so busy with life that is hard to get the family together for photos and then we spend that rare time together fighting with each other to get the perfect photo for the fireplace. Many times I have even heard people refer to it as the “dreaded family photo session”. Maybe if we really thought about that the fact that a picture is worth 1000 words we wouldn’t stress so much. We could relax and be ourselves.

Stephen and I have some wonderful clients that we met in October of last year for a maternity session. Since that time they have become great friends and I have had the honor of photographing the precious baby girl that they waited 14yrs for several times. We had planned to do a family session in July. However, Monday I received a phone call from Robin asking if we could move the date up. Then through tears, she told me that she had just been told she had Stage II Melenoma and would have to have surgery and we wouldn’t be able to get that family photo session in for a while. After setting a time and getting off the phone I couldn’t stop thinking about everything. I kept thinking about what I could do for her to let her know I cared about her and her family. Finally it hit me that the best gift I could give was to document their memories. No white shirts and blue jeans, just the real them interacting with each other. That is what life is all about. Spending time with those you love and care about, not stressing over hair out of place or making sure everyone matches perfectly. So last night when Stephen and I met up for our session with Robin and Mark we had a great time taking some lifestyle portraits. Capturing the emotion between the three of them. I have to say it was perfect and not the least bit stressful.

I hope that everyone reading this will realize the importance of capturing your family memories. Stop worrying about all the rules like wearing matching outfits or making sure everyone is looking perfect. Give the kids a lollipop or some ice cream and just enjoy a rare afternoon of family time and realize that it is okay to hang those memories on your wall. In the end the photos in the family album that matter are those that capture an emotion and bring back memories of a good time not those that just document all of your family members at that current time. Now that I have written a novel, here is a little peek at our afternoon with this precious family.

This little man has to be the happiest baby boy. He smiled almost the entire time he was here. He had us all cracking up. The only time he cried was when it was time to go! I have to admit he has been my motivation the past few days! Anytime I need to smile I thumb through his session. Here is a little peek at our time together. Go ahead and smile, you know you want to!

Friday afternoon Stephen and I got to spend some time with this sweet little man and his family. He was perfect! I actually went to school with his mom. So, it was great getting to see her and her precious family. And, in case you can’t tell from the pictures, this little man has a big brother that kind of loves him! We had a great time with you all. Hope you enjoy the sneaks!

This afternoon, Stephen and I got to spend some time with these four beautiful children. I wish I had the energy of the youngest little man! We had a tough time keeping up with him! Luckily, he did stop long enough for a few pictures. We had a wonderful time hanging out with all of you. I hope you enjoy the sneaks!

It was the youngest one’s idea to pose by the tree and I have to admit he did a great job!

This one is too sweet!

Great idea moms, props are always welcome with me!

As you can tell from the picture above, this little one runs to the beat of his own drum.

The other morning I had the pleasure to spend some time with one of the happiest babies to date. This was much different than my first encounter with baby G as a newborn when he was not so happy to see me. However, this time he was all smiles! We got so many great shots of him that I had a difficult time choosing which ones to put on the blog. Despite the fact that I can’t put my favorite one on here due to the dad’s disapproval, we had lots of great ones! I hope you enjoy the sneak peek.

This morning I got to spend some time with this beautiful family. They have so much joy right now as they welcome a new baby girl to their family, but also so much heartache as they prepare for Dad’s deployment for the next six months. It was such an honor to be able to spend the morning capturing some precious memories for them before he leaves. Guys, we will be praying for your family during this seperation. I hope the time goes by quickly. Thank you for letting me into your lives for the day. I hope you enjoy the sneaks.

Last week I got to spend some time with this precious baby girl and her mommy. Even though she wouldn’t smile much for me, she was one of the most content babies I have ever seen. I am absolutely loving the sweet pictures of her with her mommy! I had a great time with you both. I hope you enjoy the sneaks!

I have been a bit of a slacker lately. We all got a nasty virus and didn’t get any work done last week. Thankfully, this post is for a friend who understood! Bethany, I am so sorry that your blog is just now getting posted!

Bethany and I have been friends since high school. I was so honored that she called me to photograph her engagement and upcoming wedding. I couldn’t be happier for her and her fiance. It was completely obvious that they are so in love. Jesse has a beautiful little girl who joined us for some photos. We had so much fun photographing all three of them! Guys, Stephen and I had a blast hanging out with you all. I hope you enjoy the sneaks and again I am so sorry it took so long to post them!
